Beautiful Katamari 360 exclusive.... and more

http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/level...clusivity.aspx

But when a little birdie with good reason to know--and to gloat--informed us that the We Love Katamari sequel, Beautiful Katamari, would join the ranks of Xbox 360 exclusive titles, the pattern was impossible to deny. We've since confirmed that an exclusivity deal between Namco and Microsoft is very close to fruition, likely to be announced at the E3 Media and Business Summit in July.

Microsoft is doing a ton to secure it's position as best console this generation.

And just for the record, this wasn't meant as a doom and gloom thread towards Sony, though thats probably how it will end up.

I saw the Gamespot article of this in their rumor mill, and they didn't know what to make of it either, but they said that the guy who wrote that up has a decent reputation and he wouldn't put it on a line recklessly, so this may have some merit in terms of truth.

Perhaps it's just a timed exclusive. like with Ace Combat 6.

Well, I hope they realise some sort of version on the Wii. I think Katamary would fit perfectly on that platform.

As for this news, though, another reason for a 360. Hmmmmm.

According to the Gamespot Hands-On of Beautiful Katamari it's going to be a Live Arcade title released in October...

The big, huge Katamari ball of junk just keeps on rolling, this time with a new installment called Beautiful Katamari slated to hit Xbox Live Arcade in October.

Perhaps just a mistake in the article? I can't see the retail stores being happy with Microsoft if they're going to allow full games to be sold on the Arcade.

It might be, but it wouldn't surprise if me that's the case, either (though I don't know if that can be possible, really). I'm guessing that it's a mistake, really.

Though the question is, for each game sold through the arcade, how much does Bandai-Namco get?

That has to be a mistake. There's no way that a Katamari game will come close to making the 150 MB limit.

I'm guessing you might be able to buy additional stages or characters on the Marketplace.

Whats more, they probably wouldn't allow full games to be run off the Hard Drive so easily either, it'd be too open to piracy.

Well, Katamari on the Wii was more or less shot down when the Famitsu confirmation came out and there was no mention of a Wii version at all. We might see one later down th line, but for now, there's no Wii Katamari.

At this rate, I might find myself seriously considering getting an Xbox360 someday in the relatively near future. Quite a few titles are beginning to catch my attention as of late, this one being the newest addition to the list (assuming it's not just a rumor).
