First (leaked and shitty) images of Halo: Reach.
That carbine looks real pretty, though.
It looks like you'll be Marines in Reach, as well, as Master Chief's story is pretty much already told. How they'll tweak it from the ODST engine obviously remains to be seen, but I am super-dee-duper-dee excited for this shit.

I need a lot of changes from ODST, but to be fair it seemed pretty obvious from the final product that it was a rush job.

It's a whole new engine and I heard those screens are fake.

Looks like they're making changes for the good if the 10 shot BR is any indication. I liked ODST quite a bit (but the VISR mode is a sort of crutch at times) but the changes they made to everything else were for the better(although I kinda missed dual-wielding).
Definitely looking forward to the beta.
P.S. The needlerbine looks sweet (or whatever it is) but it looks as big as the Splaser, wtf?

Assuming they're real, that's a hell of an upgrade to the graphics. Halo 3's graphics were outdated by Mass Effect and Gears of War even before it was released.
I was sort of hoping to play as the Chief though. I had assumed that Reach would follow the Fall of Reach storyline, and you'd play as the Chief with Spartan squads.

Was hoping Reach wasn't going to be an FPS.

I can't really tell who you're playing as in those. Although it definitely is using the same colour scheme as ODST you've got the motion sensor(and it looks like squadmates' health beside that) and the health looks like Halo CE "ticks" so a Spartan isn't out of the question.
Mind you I liked playing as someone different and enjoyed playing as the Arbiter and as the Rookie(the silent protagonist thing is weak however) just as much as the chief. Very unlikely we'll be playing as the baddies this time around(although they did let you kill a human in ODST...stretching it a bit here maybe) but jumping to different perspectives would be a welcome change(return?)(continuation? if we count ODST).

In the book (which was actually awesome for a book based off a video game, Eric Nylund can fucking write) there was basically a Needlezooka.

Oh yeah I haven't read those in some time, that could be it. On that note I hope a lot of the extended universe (books, Halo Wars) finds its way into this game. There's a lot of good material in there.
Which reminds me, that Halo anime is supposed to premiere today I think. Better go check.

Yeah, I made a post of it in the Anime board. They're showing the first four episodes, but they'll be staggered. There's a schedule in the thread I created.

ODST was kinda fun but it really felt stale. If Reach winds up being another rehash of Halo 3 then I'll be disappointed. They'll really have to shake things up to get me excited about Halo again.

I want to fight Brutes and Elites at the same time and none of this they're fighting each other nonsense. Brutes have been getting more fun to fight(giving some of them shields in ODST was a good move) but they can't touch how fun the Elites were in Halo 1 & 2.

I thought the Elites were the most fun to fight by a long shot. They seemed to fight more intelligently in Halo 1, and I definitely prefer them speaking their own language, and not English. They just seem more alien and more like an opponent I want to fuck up that way.
They seem more dangerous that way, and I want it back.

Definitely agree with you there and you've got a point about the being more alien thing, makes it more interesting. Reminds me of Prey actually, which was a cool game until the aliens were speaking English one translating upgrade later.
Which isn't to say I don't mind a little english here and there but you'd expect a little more than wort! wort! wort! to slip though during combat.

I personally loved it when you'd blast down an Elite's shields and he'd go duck behind something and you could hear him ranting and cursing in his own language, and he was clearly pissed the fuck off.
