No, no, no, a thousand times no. Interesting story (from what I played, about three hours or so before I realized I was wasting my time and could be doing ANYTHING else), but the gameplay was just... really, really bad. Both the battles and just running around talking to people were boring.

^Go anywhere, do anything, ie: Grand Theft Auto. Like a sandbox.

Most PS2 games are going for around $20 at Gamestop. I'll be completing my console collection for that this month. $30 for Atelier Iris 3 new. This'll probably be the last Xmas for PS2...

So would a game like Oblivion be considered "sandbox style?"

BK: Devil Summoner is considered to be pretty awful. Even the diehard SMT fans hate it. It's a shame, as it actually looked pretty good at first.

As for Oblivion... I guess it'd be considered one, though I think Fable's a better example of a sandbox RPG. Like Fury said, GTA's a perfect example, and for a more recent example, Assassin's Creed.

Most people would consider it a Western or PC styled RPG versus a JRPG or console RPG like the Final Fantasy series.

Call of Duty 4 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 is only $39.99 on Amazon.

Unfortunately the PC version is still $50. It was ten bucks less last week, I wish I picked it up then. After playing the demo I realized even if the single player is only 5 or 6 hours, at that intensity it's worth it (not to mention Multiplayer). I guess I'll add it to the X-mas list and hopefully get it so I don't have to actually pay for it.

Wiis are shipping to stores this weekend. This will probably be your last chance to get one before Christmas.

IMO, Oblivion is a Western RPG, like Neverwinter Nights or Everquest.

Everquest is an MMORPG, and I don't think it should be directly compared to standard RPGs.

Also, I don't see why Oblivion couldn't be considered a sandbox game. It is an RPG, but it plays very differently than the likes of Neverwinter Nights and similar games. It definitely has more sandbox elements than Fable.

I don't know if it's the kind of game anyone would be interested in (I'm not), but Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is $5 at Amazon.

I got it for $15 at Amazon. Oh well. If you like wrestling games, it's worth checking out just for all the insane customization, steep learning curve aside. It's the hardcore gamer's wrestling game.
