Mission Assistance

Hi.

I've been stuck on some missions, well members of my linkshell as well, and we're finding it difficult to get volunteers to assist. Hence why I'm posting here, to see if anyone would be willing to help out.

I'm on Midgardsormr, and the missions we're currently stuck are:

Rise of the Zilart- Ark Angels
Reason why we did Ark Angels instead of Divine Might, is due to how hard it's been to ask 13 other people to join us in a full alliance to take on all five Crystal Warriors at once. We 'did' defeat Ark Angel Tarutaru, Ark Angel Mithra and Ark Angel Hume fairly quickly in a row. Just... Ark Angel Elvaan is the one we're stuck on atm. Currently our party setup for these runs are: 75DRK/SAM (me), 75WAR/NIN, 75WHM/SMN, 75MNK/WAR, 75BLU/NIN and we managed to recruit a 75PLD/WAR to help, but even after 3 tries, we were unable to defeat the Ark Angel.

Chains of Promathis- Ancient Vows
Unfortunately we weren't even able to get anywhere near Monarch Linn, due to a member inadvertently pulling hate from the Wyvern-type and Hippogryph-type mobs... repeatedly iirc. Also I do think our pt setup at the time wasn't optimal...

A Crystalline Prophecy- Ode of Life Bestowing
I've tried this battle 5 times now, as DRK/RDM to help the RDM in the party stun the crystal and to kill the Seed Thralls, and each time failed due to having to get into melee range to inflict damage on the Seed Crystal. However I have heard of people doing a 6 SMN pt against it on Windday with Garuda's Predator claws inflicting 600-800 dmg per bloodpact: rage. I've also heard of the 'ranged attack' strategy, building TP with ranged attacks, run down, weaponskill the Seed Crystal, then run back out of attack range. Suffice to say, being stuck on the final battle for so long is starting to REALLY IRRITATE me.

A Moogle Kupo d'Etat- Roar! A Cat Burglar Bares Her Fangs
Just finished the quest before this, running around Quicksand Caves etc. Any help for the following BCNM and the rest of the mini expansion would be gratefully appreciated.

I didn't even buy this mini expansion. I like my ACP body but I don't play BLM enough to care to get this expansion for the hat.

This is a poorly designed battle. The crystal is basically impervious to magic damage and will AE the heck out of anyone who is in melee range, though I have heard that a melee zerg with 2hours and a bard can kill it. My party that won (on our 2nd try, we were close on the first try but ran out of time) was RNG/WAR, SAM/RNG, PLD/(WAR or RDM I don't remember), WHM/SCH, RDM/DRK, BLM/SCH (me, to kill the clones and help stun). Good luck doing it with anything other than a proven setup (aka lots of ranged attack).

If you can't even get your group to the BC without multiple aggro you have more important things to worry about than your group setup being optimal. I did this fight a few weeks ago and we won on our second try; PLD and WHM superkite 2 mammets with Powder Boots while we had PLD/DNC, SAM/WAR, MNK/NIN (me), and another WHM kill them one at a time.

I did DM (as SAM/THF) instead so I can't offer any experienced advice with this individual fight, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that your problem is surviving the fight, since EV is not squishy? Sub NIN, buy some consumables. Getting your face crushed after you weaponskill because you don't have shadows is the number one way to fail at missions like this. I've heard and read that kiting EV is the best way to beat her (her AE can mess you up, I know that much from experience--I shoulda subbed NIN) so if you have a RDM or a BLM/RDM and some ranged damage you should be able to do it.

The first time I did that fight, our rdm didn't do anything and went afk just as we entered the battlefield. Suffice to say it went sour within 10 seconds. The second and third times we had stunners (myself as DRK/RDM and a RDM/DRK who did what a RDM was supposed to), but still fell too quickly to the AoE attack, Seed of Judgement. The last two times, the party leader said for everyone to zerg it... which resulted in two more losses. It was then the leader said how he has no intention of getting that mini expansion therefore had no real reason to be there. Nice guy eh?

The day we tried that, the 6th was being a complete idiot prior to doing the mission, yet as the rest of us had been waiting for 2 hours for other LS mates to get online, and didn't, we had to ask that douchebag. I had a feeling he was a disappointment when as soon as we zoned into Riverne, he ran off and aggro'd a Firedrake. After saving his worthless butt, we headed further in... only to save him from another Firedrake. Hence why I thought our pt setup was bad... to have to include him. Also, I've heard many strategies for that battle... 3 NIN's, each with a healer, focus on a Mammet each... sounds a lil risky to me.

IIRC, the fight started out as with the others... endure some punishment from her while whittling her HP down and trying to stay alive. Both times we fought her, we got her to about 75% when she used Invincible. Got her to 50%, and she used Benediction. After that Benediction, she seemed to go 'supercharge' and took our PLD down very quickly, then in the following order the rest of us fell (MNK/WAR, WAR/NIN, BLU/NIN, DRK/SAM (me), WHM/SMN). I'm at the point where I'm seriously considering shouting in whitegate the next time the group is all ingame, asking for volunteers and even offering a gil reward for help in that battle.

TBH, I honestly think our group needs a couple of veterans who have done these battles and can offer some insight.

As far as the elvaan AA goes, it was my understanding that shadows are practically worthless in the battle anyway, as it's superpowered Spirits Within goes right through them.

As we discussed in that earlier thread, I really think we need a BLM and RDM to nuke her into oblivion, as every other strategy we tried came close, but to no avail (she's a PLD/WHM after all, so therefore her DEF is very high, making straight DDing hard). But I digress...

A hasted NIN with some Yellow Liquids to lock the mammet into polearm form should have no trouble at all killing it with a WHM to keep him hasted and healed. Won't kill it fast but should be easy with time to spare. When I did this fight on MNK I ended up tanking the first two simply from doing so much damage (I have a 40-cap gear set for MNK, no one else did for their jobs); if a MNK with only Ichi can do it, a NIN can too. Hi-potions are your friend, too. I might be able to help you with this fight, but your time zone may make that impossible.

Shadows are worthless against Spirits, sure, but not her melee attacks, shield bashes, spells, and other TP moves. She's also a WHM so her mdef will be higher than some of the other AAs, but BLM > Invincible (so is Formless Strikes~). Also, this fight may involve some luck; the earlier you can get her to use her 2hrs (kite her while invincible), the easier it'll be.
