So which FF Vocal Tracks do you like?

I always loved Eyes on Me and Melodies of Life but if my searches are any indication, they're not very popular here. Neither is Faye Wong. >>

So I'm just curious which songs posters here do enjoy?

For me, I seem to like them in chronological order from when they were released, with Eyes on Me as my favorite and Melodies of Life as second. Not that big on Suteki da ne but since I've only heard Kiss me Goodbye once, it gets third by default. Haven't listened to the song from FFXIII yet.

Since you said "tracks" and not "themes," I'm going to go with Otherworld from FFX and Liberi Fatali from FFVIII. If this opens up to arrangements, I love the version of Aria di Mezzo Carattere from FFVI Grand Finale.

I also like the uh, melody in Melodies of Life. Just not the actual vocals.

I love Melodies of Life, but the english version, not the japanese one.
And that's pretty much it.

Sutaki da ne/Isn't it wonderful is my favorite of the bunch, with Eyes on Me close behind. All the rest are pretty meh, and don't really do anything for me.

I used to love Eyes on Me. While I still love the melody of the song, it is way too cheesy for my tastes these days.

I'm waiting for someone to say 1000 words.

I liked it.... The Concert in X-2 was a pretty powerful scene I thought and that was due in no small part to 1000 Words.
While we're at it, I like real Emotion but I won't even try to justify that. That's just a guilty pleasure.

Hay, what about The Messenger from Dissidia! If you like cheese, I think that one's the king. I love the song itself, but the lyrics are some of the worst I've ever heard.

And I forgot about Redemption from Dirge of Cerberus. I don't care what you say about Gackt, this song is actually really good.

Agreed. And yes, the actual music is good. But by Cosmos the lyrics are awful. It sucked even more when they forced you to listen to a variation of it while
Spoiler:
battling Chaos at the end of Shade Impulse.

And to make matters worse the band's name is 'Your Favourite Enemies.' They sure as hell aren't mine.

Getting back on topic though, my favourite FF vocal track would probably be Melodies of Life. It's melancholy score and Emiko Shiratori's haunting vocals still brings a tear to my eye when I listen to it. Or maybe I'm just extra soppy for songs like that.

An honourable mention in the 'arranged' category goes to Blessed In Her Glorious Light by the Star Onions. This vocal arrangement of the Jeuno theme from FFXI was a pleasant surprise at the end of the Star Onions' first album.

Although the lyrics don't make much sense if you're unfamiliar with FFXI's storyline, seeing as
Spoiler:
it's basically about the Goddess Altana and the people of Vana'diel breaking free from the Twilight God Promathia's curse of Emptiness

, it's still good nonetheless. And it's become quite an earworm for me.

If we're including vocal tracks not in tht actual games themselves than "Morning Glow" is right up there with Melodies of Life for me.

Courtesy of Hopeful Tragedy Records. More like Hopeless Travesty, am I right?

I do like listening to the Cosmos and

versions of The Messenger. Bad lyrics aside. I like Otherworld a lot more in Dissidia, seems to fit the game better than it did FFX.

Well, The Extreme is my favorite that has any vocals at all, followed by Liberi Fatali.

I like most of them at least all right, though. Eyes on Me was cool, and Melodies of Life eventually grew on me.

I actually like the melodies of most of the vocal tracks very much, but the vocal performances themselves (and the English lyrics, should they have them) always leave much to be desired. In particular, Suteki da Ne sounds a lot like it's going to be a beautiful song until that terrible squeaky-voiced singer opens her mouth. And Melodies of Life would be a nice pleasant listen if the lyrics weren't so damn cringeworthy.

I do, however, legitimately like Kiss Me Goodbye. (I know, I know!)

I like Kiss Me Goodbye too, it's probably the lesser of the cheesy themes and it certainly sounds more like what Nobuo always aims for with those songs. It sounded sufficiently Elton Johnish.

Let's see:

1. Kiss Me Goodbye - I love the melody and the way the lyrics fit with the storyline (good ol' Ashe and her men issues).

2. Eyes on Me - Same as the above. I like the symbolism the song has in the storyline, but it's a little more cheesy than Kiss Me Goodbye.

3. Distant Worlds (FFXI; song from the final cutscene of Chains of Promathia) - The melody is so beautifully haunting, but it gets third place because the lyrics are a bit meh.

4. Melodies of Life - Simple and sweet, like the rest of FFIX. Brings a smile to my face everytime, just like the game itself does.

5. Aria de Mezzo Carattere - Lovely melody, but I find the lyrics much too simplistic for something that's supposed to be an opera.

6. Suteki Da Ne - It's a nice song, but I find that Someday the Dream Will End (the music you hear in the outside areas of Zanarkand) is a much superior arrangement of it. That one gives me goosebumps when I hear it.

10. (yes, this is intentional) 1000 Words - It's ok to listen to every once in a while, but I find it waaaaaaaay too sugary for my tastes. The melody sounds awkward and overall mediocre to me.
