Good point - the FFIV engine is already on the DS. But then again, if it sucks, we're better off never being able to touch it. Optimistically it's really good and they eventually port it, but c'mon what do we really expect in terms of quality.

It really depends. The Crisis Core staff said that, prior to deciding that it would be a "new game", they were going to make it a graphically enhanced remake of Before Crisis, but for the PSP.

Though from what little I've heard of it, it sounds kinda dumb. Still, Square Enix needs to mean what they fucking say when they declared how they're going to treat the North American market as being much more important. If that was the case, we wouldn't see all these fucking Japan-only cell phone games.

To play devil's advocate for a moment, what's to stop someone from saying that the fans complain about all the supposed "crappy" sequels and remakes, yet are upset when they don't get a dumb cell phone game?

IMO, cell phone or not -- I really see this as an insult. Why oh why must SE be touching a game that is over 10 years old. The story was good, and just leave it be. No need to milk it like they did with FF7. Granted FF7 was very hyped and some of the spin offs and sequels were interesting, FF4 I find to be a great standalone game that has no need for any spinsoffs. I see here most of you guys crying that it is going to be on a cell phone, but I would rather not have any at all regardless of how good or bad it is. I mean, this is coming from the company that re-released FFI like 5,6 times.

Looks like Tokita Takashi -- the guy who wrote FFIV's story -- will be involved. And I love the fact that it looks virtually identical to the original.
It sucks so much that this has to be on cell phones.

Well i disagree. I didn't think the story was that good. But if you mean to say the story was complete, yeah I agree, it was a complete story..so the sequel's going to have to force something in for there to be a sequel.
I also think it's sad that the remake of the game (FFIV DS) looks better than it's sequel (when the remake is released before the sequel). Has that ever happened?

Heh. Looks like FFIV alternate universe. Especially with the Yang and Rydia look a like. I still wants it.
