ETERNITY: TWILIGHT OF THE IDOL
Twilight of the Papers – Maggie’s Side
Character Description
“This is our sister, Maggie. She’s quiet, tall, not very amiable, and her favorite author is Hemmingway. She’s not very lady-like, but she’s a very good girl.”
Age: 20
Height: 6’1”
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Red
Paper Specialty: Paper Familiars/Puppets
Team Position: Defense
Maggie is the middle sister of the trio, easily described by her elder sister Michelle as “Big! Strong! Slow!” She’s an exceptional example of a wallflower, usually letting her sisters speak for her in public situation. Like Michelle and another famous Paper User, Yomiko Readman, Maggie is fanatically in love with books, almost completely ignoring the outside world when engrossed in a book (pigeons have landed on her head and she merely continued reading without so much as a blink). Almost in spite of her size, Maggie is most comfortable in narrow, cramped confines.
She’s the most courageous of the sisters, always going out on a limb to help or protect others, especially Anita, heedless of the danger to herself. She has a very good heart, and is probably the nicest person you could ever hope to meet. Maggie looks up to her older sister, sometimes thinking she’s nothing compared to Michelle.
Appearance
Maggie is noticeably taller than most women, usually by a head or more. Her black hair is mostly disheveled black hair, and her eyes are a soft red. Maggie prefers loose, baggy clothing with an eye for comfort rather than fashion; she usually wears an overlarge sweater or coat with a simple pair of slacks when not on a mission. While on a mission, she wears Eastern-style blue pants, a darker shirt, and a white coat with blue trimming.

Background
Maggie’s early life is a complete mystery. Three years ago on Christmas Eve she arrived on-location for a mission for the Chinese syndicate Dokusensha, where she met Michelle Cheung whom was also hired by Dokusensha for the same mission. They briefly swapped notes, each realizing that the other was a Paper User and had brought along the same book to read.
Together they broke into an abandoned church and explored a hidden underground library, verifying that the supposedly pre-World War II books were in fact modern forgeries. They had been set up by Dokusensha: if the books were fake, they would lose nothing; if the two were captured, Dokusensha could disavow them.
While there, they find an orphaned Anita, who had been using the church as shelter. She tells them if they’re Santa to give her a present; if they’re robbers, take her with them. Unable to do either, Maggie and Michelle leave the church, going their separate ways.
The next day, unable to bear the thought of the child left alone and their own loneliness, they both return to the church, both giving her the same book as a Christmas present. Anita says that a story won’t fill her stomach, and Michelle invites her to stay with her. Anita tells Maggie that a book won’t keep her warm, and Maggie responds that she’ll take care of that. Michelle suggests that the three become sisters; what’s unbearable alone is bearable with two, and would be a piece of cake with three. Anita and Maggie agree, and take December 24th as their new birthdays.
For the next few years, the trio ran the Three Sisters Detective Agency, finding lost people, pets, books, and any odd jobs that kept them in books food.
…most of the time, anyway.
That changed a year and a half ago, when they were hired to guide Nenene Sumiregawa, an author who’s book was being made into a movie but hadn’t published anything new in four years, while she attended a book signing in Hong Kong to drum up publicity for the new movie. At the signing an unpublished author, irate that a foreigner’s book is doing so well and his remains unread, attempts to kill Nenene with a bomb attached to her wrist. After seeing the sisters stop the assassin and that they’re Paper Users, Nenene asks them if they known Yomiko Readman, missing for the last several years, but finds no clue forthcoming.
After the attempts on her life, the sisters are hired to be Nenene’s bodyguards by her editor and in short order move in with Nenene, an arrangement that lasts for several months. During this time the sisters take several jobs from Dokusensha to supplement their meager book funds living expenses; during one mission, Michelle is aided by a young boy named Junior while blinded. Anita enrolls in a nearby public school, quickly making several close friends.
When their contract runs out, the sisters return to Hong Kong with Nenene, who wants to visit for a while… only to have Dokusensha appear and hold the four at gunpoint, kidnapping Nenene and attempting to buy the sisters off with a briefcase full of hundred dollar bills. It seems Nenene is a unique author, capable of writing a “complete language” novel, capable of influencing the minds of the world as a whole, an ability Dokusensha intends to exploit.
The three sisters unanimously vote to get Nenene back, assaulting the Hong Kong branch of Dokusensha. Inside, they split up, Anita and Michelle going to rescue Nenene while Maggie holds off Dokusensha’s own Paper User. The trio is ultimately successful; at the same time, bombs planted in the building by the Junior under the order of the British Library go off, literally sending Hong Kong beneath the sea, sinking the island.
When they return to Nenene’s apartment in Japan, they find that they’ve been framed for terrorism; planted evidence shows that they were responsible for the destruction of Hong Kong. John Woo-san delivers a message to them as they decide what to do next; apparently orders sent to Dokusensha agents, they stated the location of one of the rare books Dokusensha had been looking for… and that it was actually owned by The Paper – Yomiko Readman.
They eventually find where Yomiko and Nancy have been hiding, but Nenene’s reunion is cut short as Joker appears with British Library agents in two, having come for both the book and Nenene. They manage an escape and retreat to Yomiko’s parents’ house in the country; they’re followed by Junior, who quickly makes an attempt to nab the book while everyone is asleep.
He’s halted from simply taking the book by Nancy, whose ability cancels out his own. The boy is revealed to be Nancy’s child, and possesses the same ability to “dive” that his mother does. Yomiko reveals that he has been rapidly-aged much like the I-Jin Yomiko had fought; as a child of two I-Jin, he was the “perfect I-Jin”, and had been brought up to be the deceased Gentleman’s new body. The rare books both Dokusensha and the British Library have been looking for are revealed to be six tomes that contain the mind and spirit of Gentleman, lost during the destruction of the British Library years ago.
When Junior accidentally dives into the book, the group is shown a hologram of the past, of Yomiko confronting Joker over the theft of Nancy’s child. That, coupled with the sight of what Joker had done to her lover and mentor, Donnie Nakajima, drove her over the edge… she lashed out, setting the British Library ablaze.
The same fire that claimed both of Anita’s parents and orphaned her.
Despite the tension between them, Anita and Yomiko are forced to work together as another operative of the British Library captures the rest of the group in their sleep, leaving only the two to lead the agent to the location of the hidden book. They overpower the agent and give chase after the helicopter that’s transporting the rest of the group, only to watch it burst into flames before their eyes.
Believing the rest to be dead, they separate and attempt to return to their former lives, only to find them shattered beyond repair; no one at Anita’s school recognizes her, and Yomiko finds the famous used-book street of Jinbo-cho razed to the ground by the British Library. Anita is approached by Wendy, Joker’s assistant; Wendy tells Anita that the ultimate goal of British Library is to resurrect Gentleman and rewrite history with him as the world’s leader. In exchange for a sample of her blood and cells, Anita would have her memory erased and be given a new, happy past by the Library.
Anita chooses to continue to fight, and teams up with Yomiko once more to halt the construction of a tower that would broadcast the new, revised history of the world. They’re stopped by Joker, who shows them a satellite image of Michelle, Nancy and Junior; Junior had planned the helicopter explosion to cover up the escape of the prisoners. Joker claims that the U.S. Special Forces are already en route, and that he hopes they surrender peacefully… but the two paper users turn the tables on Joker, capturing him to use as a bargaining chip instead of simply surrendering.
Meanwhile, Maggie and Nenene remain hidden, watching for any sign of the others. Wendy appears as Maggie goes out for food and forces her to hand over Nenene with a half-truth; she shows Maggie a picture of Anita fighting the Special Forces, claiming that she’s already in custody. Nenene goes along willingly, knowing Maggie would never betray her unless one of her sisters was threatened.
At virtually the same time, each from different sources, the three sisters find out that their history is a complete lie. Maggie and Michelle were both genetically engineered to be paper users by Dokusensha, at which point their memories were erased and they were given new stories. Anita was a test-tube baby created by the British Library, as an experiment to see whether they could create not only an artificial paper user, but one that hated books as well. It was decided by the Dokusensha scenario writers that they would live together as a family; apart, they were erratic, but together they were curiously stable.
Ultimately, the Library rescues Joker, takes the book, and kidnaps Junior who sacrifices himself to let Michelle get away. As the Library seizes control of most of the world for Great Brittan, Anita wanders back to Nenene’s apartment. The memories of her school had been re-altered to include her, but it’s ultimately a hollow existence: apart from school, she may as well not exist; she has no friends, no family, and only an empty apartment to come home to.
Eventually, Maggie and Michelle find their way back to the apartment as well. Despite initial hostility and confusion over their situations, they come to realize that even if their memories were falsified, the year and a half they spend with Nenene was the truth. They reaffirm themselves as sisters, and unanimously vote to rescue Nenene.
They meet Yomiko, Drake, and Nancy in London, where the city is rapidly progressing through the ages through works of literature as the books containing Gentleman are decoded; tripod alien craft from War of the Worlds were seen alongside dinosaurs from The Lost World, while the population of the city as well as the geography of the city itself had reverted to the 1800’s.
They determine the location of the British Library and infiltrate it on the same day Gentleman is slated to be brought back to life. They split into three teams: Nancy and Drake to free Junior, the sisters to free Nenene, and Yomiko to stop Joker. Junior is nowhere to be found, but the sisters succeed in freeing Nenene – but they’re forced to surrender her once again, as Joker broadcasts that Yomiko has been captured.
The climax begins as the sisters bring Nenene to Joker, who stands with a defeated Yomiko and a helpless Junior. Knowing he’s won, Joker initiates the process, and Gentleman’s mind begins to transfer over to Junior’s body. Nenene angrily tells Joker that a peace decided and enforced on people against their will is no peace at all, that it’s only a coward’s way out. As the reading of the books finishes and the transfer procedure begins, bombs planted by Nancy and Drake go off, downing the system for a short time…
…and then Nenene throws the paper users the manuscript of her new novel, completed while in captivity.
They easily knock Joker aside and begin to free Junior, but the tendrils of the system swarm around him, trying to hold him in place. As Joker rises to try to stop them, Junior dives his hand into Joker’s head, showing him a glimpse of Gentleman… and his hair whitens as he ages from what he sees. They manage to pry the anchor of the system away from Junior, only to have it transfer to the only other “perfect” body in the room: Anita.
Together, the sisters manage to remove it from her as well, and fling the anchor at the system itself; it begins attempting to feed itself the data, and overloads. The system is destroyed, as well as any chance of Gentleman’s resurrection – except it seems the victory may have been pyrrhic, as Anita’s paper clothing begins to blow away. For several moments it seems as though the worst has happened… but then she wakes up, simply knocked unconscious by the system.
Afterward, the group splits up for several months: Anita and Maggie stay at Nenene’s apartment as Anita returns to school; Michelle and Junior remain at Yomiko’s house while he recovers; Yomiko, Nancy and Nenene tour India, regaining Nancy’s lost memories and buying out used book stores. Shortly, everyone gathers once more at Nenene’s apartment, enjoying the peace they have finally attained.
Now, the Twilight of the Papers begins…
Combat
Maggie is, above all, a Paper User. This means she can manipulate any sort of paper as few others can; straightening a sheet into a razor-sharp card that has more in common with a blade than a piece of stationary, attach individual sheets to one another (or people or objects) without any sort of adhesive, create a shield or wall… a virtually limitless variety of uses, only constrained by her imagination. The paper itself can alter in properties, becoming as strong and hard as steel, as light and billowing as a ribbon, or as malleable as cloth.
Maggie’s particular specialty is the use of Paper Marionettes or Familiars. Using a large amount of paper, she can create almost-living creatures that she then controls; a bird for flight, a wolf for general offense, a multi-limbed doll for heavy lifting, and a bat to confuse an opponent are just a few examples of what she can do.
Maggie’s fine control over paper is the weakest of her sisters (a single miscontrolled paper airplane once destroyed a plasma TV); thus she almost exclusively attacks using the familiars and rarely thrown “blades” of paper, unlike Anita and Yomiko. She’s required to maintain tactile contact with the familiars beyond a few feet to control them, shaping two puppeteer’s lines of paper between her and the puppets when required.
Perhaps as compensation for her lack of fine control, Maggie’s brute power is the greatest among the sisters. She can control the greatest amount of paper at any given time, and her shields made out of paper are the strongest among the trio. In a team, Maggie usually plays the role of defense, using her familiars to scatter opponents and shield her comrades.
Like her sisters, Maggie’s battle costume is literally made out of paper, atop a short skin-tight suit; combining the armor-like toughness she can give paper as well as a last-ditch supply of paper for other uses. Maggie’s clothing is loose not only for comfort, but because she can hide a great volume of paper beneath both her casual and combat attire.
Fire burns Maggie's paper much more slowly than normal, allowing her to use an ignited sheet of paper as an impromtu torch. Water makes control over paper incredibly difficult. Certain frequencies of sound negates her control over paper. Controling the paper requires a degree of concentration, so anything that would prevent that (i.e. unconciousness) negates her control over paper.
Paper Familiar Pictures
Bustah Wolf!
The worst position to see a paper person from.
Granted, this isn’t much better…
The Crane… of the EL DORADO FIVE!
Crane, meet plane.
Crane, become plane!
Paper humanoid thing.
Snake! Snake! SNAAAAAAAKE!
John Woo-san
A carrier pigeon that the sisters have befriended, occasionally found perching on Maggie’s head (perhaps he thinks her hair is a nest). John Woo-san is highly intelligent, seeming to understand human speech and performing tasks such as carrying small objects and spotting for the group.
Omit the -san honorific and he’ll peck you.
Hard.
Read or John Woo-san will peck you!
He can gaze… into the depths of your soul!

Fan Art 1
Fan Art 2
Background
OMG SPOILERS!
Krile was very young when her parents died, and was raised by her grandfather Galuf. Galuf had to one day leave Krile at the castle as he, Zeza, Kelgar, Dorgan, and Nabeshin (From Excel Saga. It's a in-joke from the series where Nabeshin just "knows" people and has somehow been envolved with everyone's past.). They fought an evil spirit known as ExDeath and sealed him on another world. About 30 years later, ExDeath tries to free himself again. Galuf leaves his world to travel to the other (In a meteor!) to stop ExDeath once again. Eventually the party ends up back on Galuf's world. Some time after Galuf's reunion with Krile, the party tracks down ExDeath in the forest. ExDeath kills Galuf (And unlike Aerith, they actually tried Phoenix Downs and Raise spells!), and Galuf gives Krile his power. Krile takes Galuf's place in the party, and the group eventually takes down ExDeath.
Five years later, Krile is the Queen of Val, awaiting new adventures...
Personality
Krile is a very friendly person, caring for her friends constantly. When the party is glum Krile is always there to cheer everyone up. Despite her being a Queen, she isn't arrogant at all, and regards everyone equally.
Abilities
Krile isn't much of a fighter, she spent her time as a princess under the care of Galuf until he died. She had the ability to cast a few basic spells, and the ability to talk to animals such as chocobo, moogles, and dragons. With the power that Galuf gave her, she gained the ability to use the crystal fragments that allow her to change into various jobs. If you are familiar with FF, FFIII, FFT, FFXI, and FFX-2 those jobs are similar. Currently she is only able to use the six basic jobs Galuf got from the Wind Crystal when it shattered.
The Jobs (Updated as tournament progresses)
Knight - Wearing heavy armor, and using a sword and shield, Krile becomes capable of taking (Or "Tanking") plenty of punishment.
Monk - Powerful at hand to hand attacks, and healthy enough to take a few hits. Unarmored however.
Thief - Quick and sneaky, the Thief job is skilled at taking people's shit and stabbing things. Not too powerful offensively, relies on skill rather than raw power.
Black Mage - Powerful offensive caster. Possesses the standard FF staple magic "Bolt, Ice, Fire", along with other spells like Drain, Break, Bio, Frog, Sleep, and Poison. Refer to FFO's FFV Spell List for more. Don't expect to see any of the higher powered spells (Level 5 and 6) until the later rounds.
White Mage - Powerful defensive caster. Can cast the standard heal and shield spells, along with spells such as Mute, Muddle, Mini, and Blink.
Blue Mage - Able to use the enemy's attacks against them, the Blue Mage can learn new spells from other monsters (And other sponsors!) along with some sword fighting skill.
Quick Shift - A skill she developed after defeating Exdeath, Krile is able to change her current job even in mid battle.
---------------------------------------------
Galuf
Quick Data
Name: Galuf Halm Baldesion
Age: 65 (60 during FFV)
Height: Around 5'6"
Weight: Weightless
Hair color: Grey (Formerly strawberry blonde)
Eye color: Brown
Marital status: Single
Profession: Grim Reaper (Or Travel Agent as "they" call it)
Favorite food: Whiskey
Favorite color: Yellow
Favorite Star Wars movie: Star what now?
Source: Final Fantasy V
Physical Appearance
Galuf is ghostly in appearance, having no color. He's slightly translucent when he wants to be seen, invisible when he does not. He wears his old jacket still, often switching out for his black robe when needed.
Background
OMG MOAR FFV SPOILERS!
As mentioned Galuf died from ExDeath. When he died he was sent to Limbo, the waiting room of the dead. There he met with Skull Eater, and was transported to a "tournament" without his consent. At the end of it he was sent back to Limbo. Tired of waiting Galuf looked for a way out, accidently stumbling in Hell.
Galuf managed to escape Hell, and found himself in the "Land of the Dead" of mexican folklore (Which I based heavily on Grim Fandango). Another tournament happened, and when that was over was sent back to the afterlife. It was then he decided to a get a job to pass the time, and wound up being a Reaper of Souls. Another tournament, yadda yadda yadda. From there he took a vacation and left off to visit Krile.
Personality
Galuf is a wise old man, with a strong sense of humor. He strives to find the positive to everything, though becomes stern in completely serious situations.
Abilities
Back when he was alive, he had the ability to change jobs much like Krile and the rest of the Crystal Warriors. Now all he can really do is become invisible, pass through objects, interact with fellow spirits, and reap the souls of the dead. As a side effect to Galuf's death, whenever Galuf activates the power of a crystal he also gains a new personality. This can either work for him or against him. Mostly against. Galuf can only change jobs while material.
-------------------------------
Skull Eater
Quick Data
Name: Skull Eater
Age: Unknown
Height: 6 inches
Weight: Weightless
Fur color: Dark grey
Eye color: Black
Profession: Annoyance
Favorite food: SKULLS!
Favorite color: White, the color of skulls!
Favorite Star Wars movie: Huh?
Source: Final Fantasy V
Physical Appearance
Background
OMG SPOILERS?
Skull Eater was killed in his sleep by a Big Horn monster sitting on him. How it happened, I don't know. He ended up deaded and ran into Galuf in Limbo. Once the two were taken from the afterlife they've been stuck with each other. Or something.
Personality
Skull Eater hates everything and everyone but himself and skulls. He does not hesitate to insult whoever he pleases.
Abilities
Skull Eater is able to move at ludicrous speeds, easily decapitating the heads of any mooks that looks tasty, and dodging whatever they throw at him. Additonally the Skull Eater reproduces through cloning, caused by magical spells. However Skull Eaters have the lowest health of all the FFV monsters (1 HP), and since he's a ghost he can't decapitate the living.

Yukino Mayuzumi is a playable character from the Atlus game, ''Persona: Be Your True Mind'' and ''Persona 2: Innocent Sin''. She is a strong, badass woman who isn't afraid to lay down the law and use her fists if she deems it necessary. Despite this, she's currently going through a bit of an identify crisis and doesn't quite seem comfortable in her skin. She is currently a photography student, and is trying to make herself the person she thinks others want her to be... for better or for worse...
History:
When Yukino was in high school, she was a problem student. Her teacher, Miss Saeko, took her under her wing, and talked her into thinking about the future and not wallowing in the present. Yukino took that advice to heart, and greatly admires her teacher. So she decided to try to change who she was, and to see if that helped her feel more comfortable with herself. She eventually became this badass big sister sort of character that laid down the law with all her classmates. She was a strong, brash woman who wasn't afraid to put up her fists if she saw the need to.
During her days as a student and hanging around with friends, Yuki watched her classmates take part in a game called 'Persona-sama'. As they completed the ritual, a spirit of a little girl appears. Lightning rains down around the room, hitting four people - one of them being Yuki. They fell to the floor unconscious. When they woke up, the group was advised by the school nurse and Miss Saeko to visit the hospital for a check-up. After visiting the hospital, they find the place to be infested with demons! There, Yukino and her friends summoned their Persona for the first time, and henceforth became Persona users. The group, along with a few other friends, later became involved in a scandal where a large corporation is dabbling in the art of mind manipulation, through which they open a dimensional portal. They manage to stop the corporation, and save their city.
After getting out of high school, she seems to have lost her direction and become uncertain what kind of person she wants to be. She greatly idolized Miss Saeko and wanted to be a teacher like her, but she wasn't sure that she had the brains to become a teacher. So she became a photography student, where she meets her first love, Fujii Shunsuke, who's her boss and mentor. She wanted to become more outgoing and feminine, so she grew her hair out and permed it, and uses girly-talk around Fujii. But for all her attempts, everyone who knows her well sees how incredibly fake that act is, since it's so out of character for her to act that way. Fujii, for his part, seems to treat Yukino like a favourite student, wanting the best for her but not wanting to push her into a career that she doesn't truly want. Fujii senses that Yukino's confused about her future, and doesn't want to ruin things for her.
Yukino eventually was set the task to accompany her reporter friend Maya Amano to investigate the Joker Charm rumour at Seven Sisters High. There, they meet a group of three teenagers who insist that they leave as soon as possible. The group is then suddenly attacked by a group of zombies, which Yuki and surprising, the rest fend off. The newly acquainted group of five then set off to discover more about the mystery of the Joker and the Joker Charm...
Abilities:
It's rumoured that Yuki has the strength of any man, and she has stated that she is always armed. Yukino wields a bunch of razor blades which she throws in combat as well as having the knowledge on how to use a double barrelled pump shotgun. She is quite efficient in using these, not only due to her involvement in stopping any demon infestations during her high school days but also because when she was problem student she was apparently in a gang. Her use of weaponry is her main choice in combat. However, Yukino also has the ability to summon a Persona. Persona is a power that some acquire after doing the ritual, Persona-sama. The person or persons who do this are sometimes given the power of Persona, where a god, demon, or some other mythological force shares the body with the user, granting them some strong defence against demon attacks and the use of magic. Yukino’s personal Persona is Vesta, the Roman goddess of the hearth and home. She was a mysterious goddess, whose temple and sacred fire was tended by Vestal Virgins and only opened to women once a year. Vesta does not have many spells but she grants Yuki with an array of attack magics mainly of the Fire element. Vesta also reflects any fire-elemental spells and takes less damage from any nuclear-elemental spells but is weak against water-elemental spells. The list of Vesta's spells includes…
Spell Name - Element - Description
Agi - Fire - Low-level spell. Small fire damage to an enemy.
Dormina - Nerve - Causes the 'sleep' status on an enemy.
Zio - Lightning - Low-level spell. Small electric damage to an enemy.
Maha Agi - Fire - Low-level spell. Small fire damage to a group of enemies.
Frei - Nuclear - Low-level spell. Small nuclear damage to an enemy.
Personality:
Yukino appears as a strong, brash woman who is more likely to talk with her fists then with her mouth. She is in truth a very shy, awkward person. She doesn't know how to express herself with words, so she does it with her fists. She doesn't feel comfortable with who she is, so she tries to change herself into someone she thinks other people will like, with minimal success.
She's currently in an identity crisis, confused about her future and unsure if who she is is really what others want to see. However despite all this Yuki is the type to help anyone who she believes needs help, and isn't above putting others before herself.

Quick Data
Name: Her real name is Leticia Jayle Kincaide of Crell Monferaigne, however you will know her as Jayle Robberts of the Crell Monferaigne Brotherhood of the Knights. Yes, Brotherhood.
Age: 20
Height: Around 5’8”; passable for a smallish man.

Measurements: Luckily for her, flat chested and straight hips. Again, helps her pass as a man.
Hair color: Short, dirty blonde with a hint of green, as from the game.
Eye color: Dark blue.
Source: She is from the game Valkyrie Profile, a Playstation 1 RPG and now a port on the PSP.
Appearance
Ah, this should do the trick.
History
I’m making a lot of this up, as the game never fully went into detail as to Jayle’s past, only hinting at it. Some light Valkyrie Profile spoilers ahead too, but only for this particular character.
Jayle, who is indeed female, was born into an aristocrat family in the powerful military town of Crell Monferaigne. Her parents and two siblings; an older and younger brother, lived well due to Jayle’s father’s success as a military general in the ranks of the Brotherhood of the Knights. Living with two brothers, Jayle never cared much for the constrictive dresses her mother made her try on, and would rather stick duel with her brothers outside in their courtyard, climb trees, and play amongst the stables. Carefree in spirit, her world shattered just after she turned ten years old.
Crell Monferaigne was attacked by neighboring cities in such an unexpected manor that caused mass chaos amongst the people. There was mass murder as the streets were doused in blood and bodies of men, women, and children. Jayle’s father was heading his troops against the ambush, with the help of Crell Monferaigne’s sorcerer, the Magnus. The soldiers sadly were lacking in numbers, and Jayle watched from her window from her house as the battle raged closer to her home, watching men being slain and falling all over the place. She quickly left her room and searched for safer quarters within the house.
As she made her way through the house, the mansion was struck with an enormous explosion, destroying the house and setting everything on fire, stone, wood, glass flying through the air. Jayle was fortunate enough to have fallen amongst fallen stone walls which happened to have saved her life. Dazed, slightly injured, burned, and crying, Jayle feared for her life and stuck close to the wall, waiting for the screams of battle to cease, and for her to leave the ruins of her house. When she peeked at the battle, she could only find the Magnus alive amongst all the soldiers, a devilish grin on his face, and retreating back into the heart of town, ignoring the cries and death around him. It occurred to Jayle that the Magnus was the one who had destroyed the troops and her house. By the time things have cleared, Jayle emerged from the ruins to find her childhood destroyed from the sorcerer, and the corpses of her family. Devastated beyond belief, she remained among the rubble, finding what food she could, and lived as long as she could there before officials from the court found her there, and not recognizing it was the daughter of their fallen general but thought of her as a thief, gathered her up and brought her to the orphanage. Her long hair was burnt when the attack happened, and now was cut very short, and she often found herself mistaken for a boy. Deciding this would help her, she dropped her aristocratic name, and decided that she wanted to join the ranks of the Brotherhood of the Knights, her father’s battalion, and seek revenge by killing the Magnus.
She managed to fool everyone and join the ranks of the Knights ten years later, becoming an excellent swordswoman, and quickly fell under the wing of the new leader of the knights, Fahn. The two became fast friends, and Jayle soon found herself having feelings for her captain, but could never tell due to fear of being exposed as a woman.
Fahn discovered Jayle’s secret by accident; Jayle’s monthly “pains” raised suspicion, and her went to go check on her quarters. He found her sleeping, noticed that she wasn’t as flat as she should be, and in surprised backed up into her armor. Like a good soldier, Jayle was immediately awake with a knife to her captain’s throat, and the two stared back in utter horror.
She begged him not to tell anyone, and he agreed, and the relationship between the two changed; they became closer than before. When news of the Magnus’ ritual to boost troop morale was brought up, Jayle knew that it would be this time to get her revenge, and Fahn agreed to help her, as long as they were careful about doing so. In the middle of the ritual, like ten years ago, the Magnus betrayed the troops and summoned a dark lord for help, Genevieve. The demon cast a charming spell on the troops, rendering them all useless except for Jayle. The Magnus realized what was going on, and commanded Fahn to kill Jayle. Because he was bewitched, Fahn ran his sword through Jayle, who did nothing to stop the man she loved. Once Genevieve and Magnus were defeated by Lenneth Valkyrie, the charm spell was broken, and only then did Fahn realize what had happened. He gathered up Jayle in his arms in his arms, muttering “Leticia” to her before she passed, and in angry rage tore at the Magnus with his sword.
Personality
Quiet, yet confident when she does speak, as well as confident in her swordsmanship. She tries to blend in easily and not be outspoken, as she will do anything to prevent her identity from being found. Living as a man has also made her extremely comfortable around men. She’s barely had any form of contact with women other than barmaids and whores in the taverns, in which her fellow soldiers always teased her, and she was always able to banter back with them, deflecting the idea. Around women she is very, very uncomfortable, fighting between her urge to relax and be a woman and keeping up her appearance as a man. She’s uncertain when speaking to women, and it’ll be clear during the tournament.
However, she passes for a man extremely well. Unless your character is psychic or told personally by Jayle, you will assume she’s male.
Some of her aristocratic upbringing will occasionally shine through, but in subtle and limited quantities. She’ll act like a soldier, talk like a soldier, and follow commands to a T should she find you worthy of following. But don’t write her off as a brainwashed troop; if something’s not going right or not in her belief, she won’t follow it. Very independent and comfortable with solitude, as she truly has been alone since she was ten.
Abilities
Exceptional with the sword, more importantly a rapier, she has been trained as a fencer. However, since she is a soldier, she is also proficient in other weapons as well, ranging from crossbows to axes to hand to hand combat. She was not trained in any form of magic, and thus she counts on her physical power to survive. But even if she looks small for a man, don’t underestimate her strength. An overall valuable soldier to have. Will stay calm in times of panic, willing to make adjustments to survive, and good battle tactics that have aided her in battle. Her “limit” attack (easiest way of putting that) is called “Eternal Raid,” and she’ll deliver a mighty blow to her enemies, striking them down fast and swiftly.
That should do it. Any other questions feel free to ask. Yay for being the obligatory crossdresser of the tourney!

Weight: 147lbs
Measurements: No idea.
Hair color: Red
Eye color: Blue
Marital status: Widowed
Profession: N/A

History
Vanessa married. She married a kind, decent, good-hearted man.
This man worked for NESTS.
One day this man decided he didn't like his job--particularly, his boss. He decided to get out. Vanessa was oblivious to all of this. She knew her husband worked for an arms manufacturer, and had heard the word "NESTS" thrown around, but had no idea of the real implications of it.
Until her husband went away on a job. And never came back.
Vanessa asked and asked and asked what happened, but could never get a straight answer. Fueled by grief and rage, Vanessa learned how to box. She was committed to brining NESTS down--from the inside.
And so, she did. Read Wikipedia, for fuck's sake. They've got all the answers. This is painfully annoying stuff to write. I think I'm finished. Yep, sure am.

ETERNITY: TWILIGHT OF THE IDOL
Twilight of the Papers – Anita's Side
Character Description
“Aaaaah! Anita-chan is committing domestic violence again!”
Age: 13
Height: 4'7”
Hair Color: Pink
Eye Color: Green
Paper Specialty: Weaponry, Utility
Team Position: Offense
Anita is the youngest sister of the trio. She's the perfect example of her age - she hates being treated like a kid, can be selfish at times, and has a very short fuse. She cares deeply for her sisters as they all do, and would easily give her life to protect them or one of her friends.
She's easily the fiercest of the trio, always jumping into harm's way and fights at a moment's whim. She loves milk ( "It's good for your body.") and completely adores frogs. She used to abhore books and wanted nothing at all to do with them - until recently, that is. Now, she loves books as much as her sisters and wants to read as much as she can to make up for lost time.
Appearance
Anita's height is typical for her age, easily making her the shortest of the sisters. She has fairly well-kept short pink hair and soft green eyes. When not on a mission, her clothing tends to vary. She usually wears either her school uniform, or something practical - shorts, a t-shirt or long sleeved shirt, and a short-sleeves light jacket or a light collared shirt on top. While on a mission, she wears Eastern-style deep red pants, a darker shirt, and a white coat with blue trimming. On missions, she wears a Chinese-styled shirt with a flowered bottom, deep red pants with a gold trim, and tall shores.
General Pictures

Background
See Helmar's post.
Combat
Anita is, above all, a Paper User.
Anita's specialty is fine-controlled paper. She's the complete opposite of Maggie - while Maggie can control large amounts of paper at the same time and have problems controlling a small amount of paper, Anita's control of small amounts of paper is incredible while her control over large amounts of paper is lacking.
Anita's combative style focuses not only on paper, but a good degree of unknown martial arts as well. She typically uses her powers for kinetic offense and defense. Offensively, she typically uses small sheets of paper and has them act as knives. Defensively, while her sisters may form a gigantic barrier of paper to shield them from bullets and other projectiles, Anita uses that same sheet of paper to stop the projectiles in their tracks.
Her physical combative style consists of using her height to her advantage - she's hard to hit in combat, and she knows it. It's common for her to do attacks such as leaping at a foe, using her paper to destroy his weaponry, and delivering a foot to his face while using that motion to leap backwards behind a foe, landing only for seconds to deliver a roundhouse kick to knock him off his feet before going back into motion.
Anita's brute control has improved over the course of the last year. Under Yomiko's encouragement, she was able to command a typical Paper user movement style - a gigantic plane. Her brute control still isn't up to Maggie's tier, though. Her real strength lies in her fine control - she can make a normal-sized paper airplane his a bullseye ten times out of ten even through heavy wind.
Like her sisters, Anita’s battle costume is literally made out of paper, atop a short skin-tight suit; combining the armor-like toughness she can give paper as well as a last-ditch supply of paper for other uses. Anita's clothing is primarily for freedom of movement in combat.
Water and Fire won't instantly destroy a paper knife Anita is controlling, or anything small of that sort, but they still are a threat to her.

Name: Charlone Claudius
Age: mid-to-upper teens
Height: not sure
Weight: couldn't tell you
Measurements: doesn't say
Hair color: Pale Blonde
Marital status: Single
Profession: Unicorn Knight of Burnstein Kingdom
Appearance:

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/9...owgroupep8.jpg
http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/9...ergirlsou3.jpg
Personality
When people first meet Charlone, they tend to find her to be highly stuck up but once they get to know her better, they'll find an unshakable sense of loyalty and a kind hearted person.
Background (Growlanser II spoilers):
Charlone is from a wealthy noble family living in the city Starksburg located in the Burnstein Kingdom. Her younger brother, Pietro, suffers from a strange illness that until recently had no treatment but this proceedure is said to be extremely painful so Pietro has been reluctant to undergo the treatment. Charlone, being the one closest to him, made him a promise, that if she were to become an Imperial Knight, the highest rank in the Burnstein military, then Pietro would have to undergo the treatment to be cured of his disabling illness.
So Charlone took the officers' Exam for the Burnstein Kingdom's military and passed with high marks. She was then placed under the command of Wein Cruz (main character of Growlanser II) and after months of training was sent on an assignment alongside Wein and an orphan named Hans who passed the exam the same time she did. The mission was going well for a while, until they were caught up in a plot of deception that marked them as instigators of a war (the worlds of Growlanser tends to have a lot of wars). The trio met up with a swordsman named Xenos and agreed to help him find his missing sister in return for help in clearing their names.
Xenos's sister, Karene, was being held captive by a group of mercenaries and after a battle, Karene was saved. However, one of the remaining mercenaries was lying in wait and aimed an arrow at Charlone. Wein dove and pushed her out of the way, the arrow grazing his arm in the process. After a few more events passed, it was discovered that the arrow was poisoned (at this point in the game, you choose whether to have Wein press on til he returns to Burnstein castle or if he should remain to recover, the choice determines if Charlone will take a test to become a Unicorn Knight so we'll just assume he pressed on).
Wein survives the trip back to Burnstein just in time so Charlone can take the test to become a Unicorn Knight, a special all-female devision led by Imperial Knight Julia Douglas, and she passed with flying colors. At Charlone's request, she was given permission to continue fighting alongside Wein as the new war rages on. She takes some time to stop at her home in Starksburg to visit Pietro, and with some persuasion, managed to convince him to undergo the procedure to cure him, though he did point out that she couldn't just stop pushing to become an Imperial Knight just because he was going through with his end of the promise.
The war against the newly formed Mercenary Kingdom rages on and Charlone plays her part fighting alongside Wein and the rest of the party. As the war reached its conclusion, Charlone and Imperial Knight Wein Cruz became close, and when they were sent by the king to stop a rebellion caused by one of the Kingdom's ministers, Wein handpicked Charlone to accompany him into the fray, taking a moment before the final battle to confess his love for her. A few months after the final battle, Charlone was instructed to assist Wein on an assignment in the Kingdom of Ranzack, and Wein insisted on making a stop to see Charlone's father to ask for his blessing.
Charlone is currently a top ranking member of the Unicorn Knights and is still pursuing the coveted title of Imperial Knight.

Katt - Breath of Fire II
Character Description
NAME: RINPOO Chuan
AKA: "Katt"
CLAN: Fullen (also called Woren)
AGE: 15
BIRTHDAY: 04/19
HEIGHT: 154 cm.
WEIGHT: 42 kg.
BLOOD TYPE: O
3 SIZE: 74 - 48 - 76
Appearance
Katt from the front and swinging her staff
Katt in her shamanized form
Katt is a half-tiger girl with bright red hair. From the waist up she appears mostly human, besides for cat-like ears, some stray stripes on her cheeks, and her green cat-eyes. From the waist down she is more tiger-like, with fur, claws, and a tail. Katt weilds a staff which she swings with speed and power.
Katt's fiery hair matches her personality--she is strong and fights for what
she believes in. She is also quite friendly and will prove to be a valuable
asset to you in your journeys. Her cat-like characteristics combined
with her human-like figure make her a very appealing person.
Katt was trained as a Fullen, a warrior clan, and as such tends to seek battle. While she fights honorably, she is known for her fierceness. She has great strength and is fairly quick on her feet, making her a great fighter in gladiator matches and in the field.
Biography
Katt was a gladiator until the day she met Ryu (the hero of BoFII) during a match. Ryu wins the battle and also saves cat from a poison needle, prompting her to join him out of gratitude and interest.
Katt later meets another member of the Fullen tribe, Tiga, who becomes smitten with her and asks her hand in marraige. Unforutnately, Katt is not very interested, and Tiga discoveres that he truly loves someone else in the game just before he is killed with said love.
Little is mentioned of Katt's story during the game itself, and I will venture a guess that after the events of the game Katt returned to gladiator battles where she could continue to fight and hone her skills as a warrior.
Abilities
Katt possesses few abilites, relying mostly on her strength with her staff. She posesses the ability to "Dare" or to taunt an enemy into attacking her rather than other characters. In her shamanized form Katt knows "Keep" which allows her to store power and deliver a blow four times as strong as her regular attack.
Katt's knowledge of spells in the game is limited to three, Hail, BoltX, and Fireball.
*As has been pre-arranged, Katt will be pairing with Charlone (Fenix) as her(his) support character.

Description
Appearance
At first glance, Ruby looks like a cat. Well, a flying cat. With pink and white fur, and a big yellow bowtie around the back of her neck. She can also talk - in fact, that's what she seems to spend most of her time doing. And if you actually called her a cat, she'd probably claw your eyes out and burn your hair off.
So if she's not a cat, what is she? In fact, she is a red dragon – probably the only one in her world, and is able to assume the form of a full-sized dragon if necessary. However, in general she tends to remain with her more familiar, less threatening cat... er, cat-like form, so it's probably quite unlikely that you'll see her in her "true" morph.
Backstory
It is uncertain where Ruby came from, exactly – just that she ended up with a young boy named Hiro when both of them were very young. The odd pair got along well together, and as Hiro began to master the use of a sword the two of them went on a number of adventures in the ruins around their hometown, looking for old relics.
During one such mission, Ruby, Hiro, and his grandfather made their way into the Blue Spire, where they met the mysterious woman Lucia – whereupon they were swept away into a long adventure with no less than the fate of the world was at stake. Zophar, the great evil behind the death of the neighboring Blue Star, had reawakened and was seeking to destroy Hiro's world as well. To enter Zophar's lair, the services of the four dragons were needed – and as one such dragon, Ruby became aware of her true origins and first assumed her true form.
Ultimately, Zophar was defeated, and Lucia returned to the reborn Blue Star. But during their adventures, Hiro had fallen hopelessly in love with her, and spent many additional months seeking entry to the Star Tower, the only remaining portal to the Blue Star. Finally, he succeeded, and vanished forever to live with Lucia.
Ruby was left behind on the Silver Star. During the course of their adventures, she had met Nall, the aged White Dragon who had accompanied the young Alex on a similar adventure a thousand years before. The two slowly grew to like each other... but even so, for many years, Ruby would bemoan (either sarcastically or not – it always was hard to tell with her) how her "true love" had left her for "another girl".
Personality
Ruby is a talkative little dragon. When she has an opinion to express (which is almost always), she won't hesitate to express it, even if this involves insulting someone to their face – or rather, especially if this involves insulting someone to their face. As much as she dishes it out, though, she gets upset quite easily when the tables are turned on her. And when Ruby gets upset, she's not exactly hesitant about using her claws and fire-breath. True to her elemental affinity, she's a bit of a hothead.
At the same time, Ruby is fiercely loyal to her friends, to the point of being rather possessive - she constantly referred to her (human) companion Hiro as her 'boyfriend' in spite of the obvious absurdity of the claim, and became genuinely upset whenever his attentions seemed to stray beyond her. She is immediately suspicious of strangers, and it takes only a small slight towards her or her companions to end up on Ruby's blacklist: a position that it can be hard to remove one's self from, since she's also quite stubborn. But despite her faults she is genuine and kind-hearted, and almost eternally optimistic.
Ruby has a ravenous appetite for a creature her size, and (when not making rude remarks about random passersby) generally turns to the subject of food... specifically, fish. There's nothing Ruby likes in the world more than fish, and regardless of the numerous opportunities for friction provided by her other personality attributes, a simple gift of a fish or two is almost a guaranteed way to get on her good side.
Ruby is somewhat easily spooked, as one might expect for a creature weighing less than 10 pounds. Even though by now she's more than aware of her true nature, she still pictures herself as a dainty little flying creature, not a fighter. She can and does actively participate in combat – but only in "cat" form with her claws and breath (unless explicity summoned as a dragon by the holder of the Red Dragon Crest) and only when fighting something that she's comfortable with getting close enough to scratch.
Hiro departed the Silver Star not long after the end of his adventure; Ruby never saw him again. She began to mature much more rapidly in his absence - but by the time she is being drawn from for the tournament (only a few weeks after Hiro's departure), she is still very much her old self - just a little lonely without Hiro, and not entirely ready to accept Nall, the White Dragon, as a substitute.
Abilities
Ruby can scratch with her claws, and she can breathe fire - and has been known do to both on occasion (to foes and to friends). However, this is unlikely to be much more than a nuisance... unless your hair gel happens to be particularly flammable.
As a dragon, Ruby can bring fiery destruction down upon huge groups of enemies at a time. Her signature ability is 'Red Dragon Anger', which causes enormous fireballs to rain from the sky, damaging all hostile forces in the vicinity. However, it is exceedingly unlikely that she will ever use this ability of her own accord.
Tournament Context
I probably won't have time for an explicit introduction post this time, but Ruby will be drawn from shortly after Hiro's departure – lulled by the chance to help a world in need, by the opportunity to take a break from Nall for at least few days, and (most importantly) by the promise of a "lifetime" supply of fish.
However, Ruby is uncomfortable wandering by herself and will almost certainly be seeking some sort of at least temporary companionship during the tournament. This can be a lucrative arrangement for any sponsor willing to put up with her for extended period of time - follow my posts each round (presuming I have time to write them) for more details.

You all won't believe how difficult Asellus art is to find x_x
Official art of Asellus in her "common attire." Throughout the tourney she will probably look like this
Asellus fanart (she has a white rose, lololol)
Another fanart of Asellus
Another official art, with Orlouge and Mesarthim in it. The clothes she wears here are about as close to her "royal" attire as I've been able to find
Also, this Youtube vid provides a look at the ending I'm basing my performance on, albeit in Japanese (there's a rough translation in the comments), as well as about the only image of her full-mystic form ever seen. It'll be rare to see her this way; she regularly uses her illusory abilities to maintain the form seen above.
Background
Asellus began her life as a normal human girl, residing in the Shrike, a "region" of SaGa Frontier's worlds comparable to a minor city and its surrounding suburbs in modern-day Earth. For the most part, her life was rather archetypal, despite living with her aunt (her only family from far back); she did well in school and held a job babysitting for Dr. Okonogi, a semi-famous scientist. That all changed when, on one strange, misty night, she was overrun by a carriage (yes, a carriage in the middle of a modern city--Asellus didn't believe it herself). The carriage belonged to the Charm Lord Orlouge, a powerful Mystic and ruler of the region Facinaturu, who was chasing one of the escapees from his harem. His own twisted sense of honor prevented him from merely passing up the wounded young woman, whom he found beautiful, and so he abandoned his search and spirited Asellus away to his home region. However, instead of merely adopting her into his ranks as an Arch-Princess, Orlouge decided to grant her a transfusion of his own blood, preventing the onset of death... and changing her essential nature. The transfusion proving successful, Asellus would become a half-mystic, sharing both human and Mystical traits... but for a time, all she would do was sleep as her body healed from the trauma.
Twelve years passed.
Asellus awoke on a bed of roses in the depths of Orlouge's castle, still unaware of the changes she had undergone--to her, it seemd a distant nightmare. Never one to sit around and wait, she would venture about both the castle and the impoverished Rootvile which lay at its feet, encountering a variety of peculiar people: Ciato, the Lord's personal retainer (who wasted no time in stabbing her, loosing her purple blood on the ground and revealing the first clue to her nature); Zozma, the cocky, rebellious Mystic who opposed the Lord; Rastaban, a flighty young Mystic with a penchant for smiling; the dark, brooding Ildon, who served as her combative trainer; Princess White Rose, the kindest of Orlouge's women, who would serve as her teacher of etiquette; Gina, the young tailor's daughter in Rootville who found herself smitten with Asellus almost instantly... and Orlouge himself. This last revealed that he had chosen Asellus as his heir, fully disclosing what he had done to her, and making his desires for her role in Facinaturu, as future inheritor of his lordship, known.
Asellus hated him, nearly from the word go.
Along with White Rose, whom she had already grown attached to, she made preparations to escape. Obtaining a few key tools from the grudging weaponsmith Gozarus, and with aid from a cocky human visitor and Regionship pilot, she successfully escaped Facinaturu... but not the eye of Orlouge. Asellus made several stops on her way back to what she hoped was a normal life--taking the time to free the trapped mermaid/Water Mystic, Mesarthim, from the clutches of a local noble, among a few other events--and ultimately returned home to Shrike. There she met her aunt, who didn't recognize her at all--this was how she learned about the time lapse she had gone through. There she also encountered the Fire Sage, the first of Orlouge's minions, sent to reclaim White Rose and kill any opposition. Asellus ultimately slew this pursuer, unlocking a part of her mystic heritage in the process... but soon would find herself harried by more of the Charm Lord's minions, including another Arch-Princess, Lion, and Ciato himself. Asellus would succeed in defeating each challenger, and each time, she would unlock more of the Mystic power within herself. However, Orlouge had one more trump card to play: he cast her and the growing group of allies she had obtained into his own Labyrinth of Darkness, an insane void from which there could be no escape without sacrifice. Asellus fought her way back to the true world... but White Rose would be left behind, serving as the sacrifice that would let Asellus free.
For a while, all she could do was cry.
Then, her mourning finished, she made her return to Facinaturu, determined to defeat Orlouge once and for all. Along the way, she learned that the Charm Lord, unsatisfied with merely taking White Rose from her, had kidnapped Gina as well. She and her team of warriors, Zozma, Mesarthim and Ildon among them, stormed the palace, fighting through hordes of monsters, a half-alive Ciato, and Princess Lion (utterly defeating the latter two); finally, she encountered Orlouge, determined to take him to task for his crimes against her. He accepted her challenge, gladdened that his "daughter" had chosen the path of power; they fought amidst the inner sanctum of Facinaturu... and Asellus won. Having successfully deposed the Lord of the Mystics and proven her own strength, Asellus took her place at the throne... but what she had gone through to gain that strength had changed her irrevocably. Claiming Gina as her first Arch-Princess, she vowed to create a harem that would crush Orlouge's into the dust, and then to claim rulership of not only the Mystic realm, but those of the humans as well...
Personality
Despite the rather... overt aims she's proclaimed to, Asellus is acquainted with the limitations of her own strength at the current time, and (if nothing else) understands the meaning of subtlety, the necessity of playing a role in order to properly achieve her goals. To those not outwardly threatening, she will attempt to form bonds of cooperation at the very least; these bonds she will later use in any way she can to achieve her ultimate ends. Even then, though, she will exhibit little hesitation in persuing subordinate goals overtly. The courage she often showed in her past has not dwindled, even if her uses for it have changed; now, she will pursue her goals ruthlessly and without hesitation... if she must. Her abilities, after all, lend themselves to manipulation; most often she will use these abilities, and the people they ensnare, in any way she chooses rather than exposing herself to danger. For those she is particularly impressed by, Asellus may consider forming a more overt alliance... or, perhaps, to formally joining them to her harem. (And just to make sure we're not unclear about this... Asellus is a lesbian. So the people she's angling to induct into her harem are, well... women. don'tkillmeplease>_<)
Abilities
Asellus originally straddled the line between human and Mystic; the capabilities of Mystics, in particular, are rather esoteric and require some degree of explaining. Within the world of SaGa Frontier, the term "Mystic" can be applied to a wide variety of creatures--from mermaids, fairies and sprites to devils, demons and the like. Moreover, each of these types of creatures share a variety of common traits; for instance, their blood runs blue. In her present state, Asellus' blood is a purple shade much closer to blue than red. Similarly, Asellus would read as a "demon" to those capable of sensing the distinction; her humanity would be detectable, but to a much smaller degree.
The primary offensive capability of a Mystic is the ability to exude and shape a degree of negative energy for a few specific purposes; they can manifest this energy as a blade of blood-red force, or alternately coat their arms or feet with it. This negative energy can wound living creatures both physically and spiritually--some strikes can even destroy one's life force, slaying the being instantly--but its true power is more sinister.
Unlike humans, Mystics are, to a large degree, "set" insofar as their physical and mental attributes go, and are incapable of improving them through practice and repitition. However, using "mystic weapons" (the forementioned manifestations of negative energy), they can actually absorb a portion of a creature's soul and power, joining it to their own. Absorbing a flame dragon's soul, for instance, would provide increased physical strength and vitality, and allow the use of a flaming breath weapon*. A mystic who has fully developed this ability can claim up to three souls at once; Asellus is included in this number. Moreover, her human nature has allowed her to develop her own abilities like other humans, giving her an advantage over other Mystics from the get-go; however, having accepted her Mystic heriatge to the present level, her ability to develop "traditionally" has become more rigid than other humans'. Even then, her previous experience has provided her with a solid edge of training that make her a surprisingly powerful foe.
Mystics tend to have a natural propensity toward magic, and indeed have cultivated their own class of magic, based largely on powers of deception, illusion and enchantment (abilities treasured amongst Mystic culture). The school of "Mystic Magic" includes such abilities as summoning forth unreal creatures and weaving illusory doubles into existence, and every creature with Mystic blood can wield these abilities to mastery. Asellus has cultivated this class of spells to its fullest known extent, as well as three others, in her adventures: Light Magic, spells that manipulate light, heat and energy; Rune Magic, drawing upon the power of ancient letters to provide protection and enhancement; and Mind Magic, relying upon the clarity of the human mind to achieve miraculous effects**.
Moreover, certain Mystics in particular can cultivate deviant abilities according to their blood or genes--a sort of irregular mutation that allows lateral development of Mystical strength beyond merely absorbing souls. Orlouge was one of these. His title "Charm Lord" was no mere embellishment; he had the inherent ability to bend nearly any woman to his will, exuding a natural aura of charm that was nearly impossible to resist or escape. Because of their sharing of blood, Asellus has inherited this ability, albeit to a lessened degree (and yes, it didn't reverse itself; she charms women, not men). The particularly weak-willed, those untrained to resistance, may indeed find themselves pledging their very lives to her, declaring themselves slaves. Those of stronger mental fortitude (like every sponsor here :E) are able to resist... but may find themselves hearing a tiny voice in the back of their head, a mild compulsion urging them to submit. Those who agree with this compulsion may find their morale bolstered merely by the effect of having a direction to follow, a person to serve. Her own natural charisma and beauty (neither of which is a small amount) supplements this effect.
As far as more traditional combat goes, Asellus has trained herself in the use of swords. Her combat style is largely defensive; she uses her weapon to turn away attacks, then strikes as her opponent leaves herself open. Speed exemplifies her offensive style; she uses quick, rapid strikes to wear down the opponent, supplementing them with powerful thrusting attacks when necessary. She exhibits a bit of a showboating streak common in Mystics, and revels in demonstrating her skill in combat rather than merely going for the kill straight away; her use of magic mirrors this method of combat, as she supplements her weapon attacks with spells designed to confuse, weaken and muddle the opponent. However, when pushed to the limit she can and will use as much power as she has at her disposal to crush the opposition.
A more in-depth explanation of her higher-level abilities, spells and powers will be attached to this post; read at your leisure.
Equipment
Asellus carries the following equipment:
Asura: the second weapon she ever wielded, and the first she could call her own (the first was a knife lent her by Ildon). The Asura is a jagged, devilish-looking blade whose metal appears crimson. The truth is, this Asura was created by the Mystic smith Gozarus, who claimed a fair degree of Asellus' own life force to forge it; thus, it provides a variety of benefits to its wielder. Merely having it "battle-ready" (i.e. equipped on the person--not necessarily drawn) increases every ability of its wielder--the body is stronger, the mind is sharper, the soul is more resilient. Moreover, drawing the blade out for use invites it iinto action; the blade's quasi-life will awaken, pulling its wielder into battle along with it. The strikes it deals are both rapid and powerful, overwhelming the attacked with the power of a berserk rage; should the Asura's wielder be attacked, the weapon will strike back with redoubled fury, its Asura Revenge cleaving through body and soul. However, this power comes at a cost: wielding the Asura repeatedly will tire out the body, the berserk rush of violence bringing its wielder to exhaustion.
Silver Moon: An exquisitely-crafted katana found in the depths of Orlouge's treasury. Of Mystic make, it holds an edge that seems to shear the very air. In terms of raw power, it is slightly weaker than either the Golden Lion or the Asura; however, its curved blade allows Asellus to utilize some of the iai techniques she has learned. These abilities involve quickly drawing and resheathing the blade in a smooth motion, slashing deeply into any opposition. This is also her preferred weapon for her dual-wielding style, alongside the Golden Lion (due to the caveats the Asura brings).
Golden Lion: The last remnant of Princess Lion, and her own favored weapon: a well-balanced longsword with a gilded hilt, which seems to thrum with vitality and power. A weapon truly worthy of the master warrior-princess who wielded it, it is perhaps the most effective sword Asellus has ever wielded merely due to her
Pluto Armor: A "gift" given her by Rastaban during her final raid on Orlouge, this grim-looking armor provides a defense against effects that attack the soul or cause instant death, as well as more traditional protection.
Charm Necklace: Another item provided her by the smith Gozarus, this tiny necklace with a heart-shaped bauble increases one's charisma through mystical means. Moreover, Mystics can draw out hidden power from this item, as well as a few others.
Harmonium Earring: This golden earring, another tool recovered from Orlouge's treasury, suppresses the effects of sonic-based attacks.
Power Belt: A simple-looking black leather belt, this item confers increased strength and physical resilience when worn.
She also carries a backpack which holds several curative and restorative items, a holdover from her younger days.
While not strictly "equipment," the souls Asellus has absorbed are listed here (mainly because I couldn't figure out where else to put them x_x).
Suzaku: A nigh-legendary bird made nearly of pure soulfire, bearing its soul provides enhancements to nearly every attribute, physical, mental and spiritual, as well as granting her the Hellwing attack.
Dullahan: Despite being an undead creature, the negative energy its "soul" provides actually synchronizes with a Mystic's own power, increasing speed of movement, speed of thought, and physical strength; Asellus can gather its force for the Griffith Scratch.
Genbu: Another semi-mythic beast known to control the motion of the seas and the skies, the turtle-dragon increases both physical and mental resilience, and grants its wielder the power to call Thunderbolts from the skies.
*Note that it is rare for a Mystic to absorb the power of other Mystics or humans. It IS possible, but requires a greater expenditure of time and effort; however, in the case of Mystics in particular, it is possible to absorb the power of a Mystic without claiming its soul, increasing power without counting toward the three-soul limit. This act, however, is viewed negatively within Mystic culture.
**Asellus has heretofore achieved "mastery" in Mind Magic, and was originally capable of utilizing its strongest abilities; however, because of the deepening rift between her present state and her human nature, she can no longer use these high-level abilities. Basic spells, however, are not barred to her.

MySpace Pt. II: a real description.
Biography
Makoto was born in the historical Tose region in southern Japan, and as a consequence is a bit of an outdoor-type. Nothing is known of her history until her appearence in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, where she is an expert practioner of Rindoukan-style karate, which unlike Ryu and Ken's beloved Ansatsuken, is actually based on real karate (ironically enough, Rindoukan is based on Shotokan, which is what Ryu and Ken's style got changed to when localized).
Makoto's family had long operated its own dojo for generations. However, Makoto's father Masaru wasn't strong enough to keep the floundering school running, and he died, leaving the responsibility of the dojo in Makoto's hands. Makoto's only brother had no martial arts potential and left to become a salary man.
Her current reason for living is to somehow revive the Rindoukan school.
Abilities
The following information is copied and modified from Thomas Shin's Makoto FAQ
Tosshin Seiken Tsuki (Rushing Justice Punch): QCF + Punch
[AKA: Hayate]
Makoto dashes forward VERY quickly with a punch straight for the gut.
Jikiage Seiken Tsuki (Upper Justice Punch): DP + Punch
[AKA: Fukiage]
A seemingly useless attack at first, it's main purpose is to juggle
crossups and overhead attacks. Makoto will duck down briefly (dodging
most fireballs that go her way) then punch upwards with her farthest
arm as she says, "Mojya!"
Uchi Oroshi Toute (Low Attack Knife Hand): QCB + Punch
[AKA: Oroshi]
Makoto performs an overhead classic Karate-Chop.
Senkou Kakato Otoshi (Dropping Heel Flash): In air, QCB + Kick
[AKA: Tsurugi]
In the air, your Cute-But-Sadistic Karate Kid will pause for a sec
as she raises her leg vertically, then bring it down for a wicked
axe kick.
Tsurushi Nodowa (Bladed Neck Encirclement): HCB + Kick
[AKA: Karakusa]
Makoto will grab her opponent by the neck and squeeze really hard,
then grunt as she lowers them back down.
Super Art I: Seichuusen Godanzuki (Middle Spin Five Level Thrust)
Makoto does a single punch to the crotch (Oww.), then three hits to the
midsection, and finally a smashing fist to the chin that launches them
up with a ridiculously dramatic finish as she yells the name of the
super.
Super Art II: Abare Tosanami Kudaki (Raging Waves of Tosa Smasher)
Makoto jumps back (a la Maximum Spider) to tag the wall and then
jumps in with a Flying Suicidal Psycho-Bitch Divekick(tm), followed
up by a 3-hit autocombo that ends with a reverse Fukiage (she hits
with her closer arm as opposed to her farther arm, which is why it
hits standing opponents.)
Super Art III: Tanden Renki: Seme no Kata
Makoto will pose for a second as she channels her Chi. Her skin then
goes pissed-off red and she'll inflict double damage for quite a while.
It seems to last about 10 seconds. During this time, she cannot block
any attacks (Refined Spirit in the [Point Below the Navel]: Offensive Style)
Personal Action:
If you power her up for the full three
animations, she will inflict a bit more damage and recover some stun
gauge. You'll see her focus and move her hands to two inches below her
navel, the main point where the chi in your body is supposed to reside
(Tanden). When she moves her hands, she can actually inflict damage
on her opponent, but by the time this happens, your opponent has
probably recovered from stun anyhow. ^_^
Appearance
Makoto is dressed in either a schoolgirl uniform (short skirt + white, short-sleeved, button-up shirt), or her father's karate gi. She has a very peculiar haircut, something not quite poofy, yet not quite spiky. You just have to Google her sprite to understand it. Makoto has an admittedly masculine appearence, and a fairly lean, muscular body. She likes to wear a yellow scarf which is supposedly a cherished keepsake of hers. She's also quite a bit tanner than your typical Japanese girl.
However, Makoto is really cute when she's angry~<3
Personality
Not much can be derived from Makoto's personality besides the fact that she's very serious about her martial art. She appears to be a bit of a loner, yet she is also probably acquainted with Ibuki and Elena, two other street fighters who lead admirable social lives. All things considered, Makoto's probably stoic and intelligent, which may belie a few fun, carefree tendencies that being a teenage girl allots her.
Also, she loves to sweep her floor. With her broom~<3

ETERNITY: TWILIGHT OF THE IDOL
Twilight of the Papers – Michelle's Side
Character Description
“Now, let's not waste time! Youth won't wait for us! Yes, time is a phantom traveler flowing eternally, and we are but vagrants drifting about in the waves. In English, we are 'vagabonds'~!”
Age: 25
Height: 5'6"
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Yellowish
Paper Specialty: Ranged Attacks
Team Position: Support, Tactics
Michelle is the oldest of the three paper sisters and their unofficial leader, though you wouldn't always be able to tell it from the way she acts. She is the opposite of Maggie; always cheerful and talkative, seemingly ditzy, and carefree almost to the point of being naive. Despite this, she is an intelligent woman, often acting as the team's strategist. She is usually calm and collected when she needs to be, another contrast to one of her sisters, Anita. She has an intense attraction to books, almost entirely unable to pass one without buying it, which often leads to her spending the Sister’s food and payment money on books for her and Maggie (And, as of late, Anita) and buying out entire stores in Jinbo-chou. She is also the keeper of the Sister’s “Paper Case”, a briefcase which contains varieties of papers in different shapes, sizes and containers for the sisters to use, some more suited for one sister in particular.
She is, despite her normal demeanor, the most calm and collected of the sisters in combat
Appearance
See below, I fail at writing physical descriptions. That, and I’m running short on time for this.

Background
I am deceivingly lazy, so see Helmar's post.
Combat
Michelle is, above all, a Paper User.
Michelle's specialty is attacking from a distance. Her preferred form of attack with away form the front line, with a bow created out of paper and a supply of arrows that’s only limited by how much paper she has. She has been known to use ranged weapons other than a bow and arrow, such as darts and normal thrown pieces of paper, but this is rare and is typically done only to disarm someone.
Michelle’s combat style isn’t very complex – she usually stands back, fires arrows and assists Maggie and Anita as needed, though she will occasionally get up into the front line of the action if she has to. While she is skilled with ranged attacks and projectiles in general, her preferred attack method is with a bow and arrow. She’ll often give instructions to the other two during combat, again acting as tactician as she fires her volleys of arrows. Her precision and speed with her paper projectiles is unmatched, able to guide one of her arrows to its mark through even the heaviest of winds and resistance, sometimes before the enemy even knows she had taken aim at them.
Like her sisters, Michelle’s battle costume is literally made out of paper, atop a short skin-tight suit; combining the armor-like toughness she can give paper as well as a last-ditch supply of paper for other uses. Like much else of Michelle’s, her clothes run the midline between comfort and battle effectiveness, allowing her to hide paper for her arrows in numerous places, such as up her sleeve.
Water and fire pose as much a threat to her as any other papermaster, if not more so given that water can throw off her projectiles in ways most other things can’t. High decibel soundwaves can also affect her paper and projectiles.

Name: Amælissamr (usually shortened to Aelia)
Age: 25
Class: Spearwoman/Adventurer
Race: Dragonian
Height: Almost six foot
Weight: Heavier than you might think, but all muscle
Eye colour: Green
Hair colour: Red
Source: Valkyrie Profile, and presumably VP: Lenneth (at least, it damn well better be)
Not just a pretty face - Appearance
Aelia is tall for a woman and only emphasises it with a proud, upright stance. She looks years younger than her age, with an almost childlike face topped by unruly red hair, but her green eyes tell a different story. She'll have no problems looking anyone in the eye either, usually with an unspoken challenge, so there'll be plenty of chances to see that experience.
Embedded in the centre of her chest, as with her dragon form, is a fist-sized red gemstone known as the Dragon Gem. (Removing said gem would probably kill her, so hands off k, Rikku?) Not that anyone's likely to see it or know about it, because it's covered by a long-sleeved chainmail tunic, which in turn is covered by green and gold plate armour and matching elbow gauntlets. Yes, in a move that stunned RPG players around the world, Valkyrie Profile gave its female warriors armour that's actually capable of protecting them. >_<
Her lower body is less well armoured - the armoured green theme continues with knee-high boots, but her only protection between knees and waist is a small tasset that covers either side of her hips. Aelia would probably tell you that it's for extra mobility in combat, but the real reason is that leg armour's a pain in the ass when you're suddenly trying to grow a tail. She also bears white bandages on her left thigh, from a wound gained early on in her first tournament. It healed up months ago, but she keeps the dressing as a memento.
Official VP character art
More official art
A pretty close (if blurry) mockup with SCIII's create-a-character mode
Now with added bull[expletive] - Backstory
Aelia's official backstory barely covers a paragraph. Like most everyone in Valkyrie Profile, she dies (tortured to death by a evil mage, the bastard) and gets recruited by Valkyrie to train as an Einherjar and fight for the gods come Ragnarok. I mean, it's not much of a spoiler, is it? VP is the one game when you're surprised if a major character doesn't die. Not that this matters much, though, because she'll be taken from before all this happens.
The details of her parentage are unknown, even to her, but Aelia was born Dragonian - a half-breed of human and dragon unwelcome in either world. It is known that the Norse dragons can shapeshift and take on human form, and that some dragons were once human who grew too greedy. In any case, there was a day when a noblewoman died in childbirth, bearing a child sired by a beast. Her family named the child Amælissamr - meaning 'shameful' - for the taint she brought to the family name.
Her childhood was not a happy one, raised by a man who knew she was not his. By the age of twelve she had learned self-reliance from necessity, having to hunt for food, fight, explore, steal and kill merely to survive. And at fifteen she killed her foster father in self-defence, determined to bring an end to his family's dark secret. The child renamed herself Aelia, shortening her name so it no longer represented her mother's shame, and set out to see the rest of the world.
Years later, she became part of a group of adventurers/wanderers, travelling the length of Midgard for fun and profit. Aelia knew she didn't fit into normal society, and not only didn't mind but embraced the fate that set her apart from most of humanity. Especially the male part of it, but we'll get to that later. Their travelling together came to an end when one of their number apparently murdered another, and the group split up to track the killer down.
It was while Aelia was on Grey's trail that she was invited into her first tournament, by a woman promising the winner to change any one thing in their past. With the chance of bringing Lemia back to life, not wanting to change anything in her personal past, she accepted Elysia's offer. (Survivor IX, for the curious.) While she did not win the tournament, the experience was a rewarding one, being able to explore new worlds and meet and fight other female warriors. With fond memories of those she had met, one demoness in particular, she returned to her own world and resumed the hunt.
Firebreather in more ways than one - Personality
Aelia is something of a paradox, which might be expected given her heritage. While highly tomboyish in general attitude, and almost entirely lacking femininity, she takes immense pride in being a woman warrior and has a pathological disgust and hatred of most men. This can largely be traced back to her father, but also to the patriochal and patronising Midgardian society which expects females to live in thrall to men and only accept certain roles within that world.
She'll be damned if anyone - man or god - tries to tell her what she can and can't do with her life. She's overly confident in herself and her abilities, stubborn, reckless, battle-hungry, occasionally foolhardy and short-tempered with people she doesn't respect. Under all that, though, is a good soul who'll try to help out anyone in need and fight with others against a common enemy. Unlike many half-breeds, Aelia accepts and cherishes both halves of her heritage, refusing to deny any part of what makes her what she is.
Oh, and she's proud. Maybe it's a dragon thing, maybe it's from all those years of self-reliance, but ye gods is she proud. When Valkyrie first meets her, Aelia refuses to admit she needs any help (despite being chained to a wall and recently tortured at the time.) When she actually dies and Valkyrie comes for her soul, she first demands to know why the gods need humans to fight for them instead of fighting themselves, then bargains information out of the goddess in exchange for her servitude. If you send her up to Valhalla and she does well, Thor complements her, saying "I expect great things from you." And she replies proudly - to Thor, of all people - "Yes, so you should do." Serious attitude problem, people.
Crunchy and tasting good with ketchup - Abilities
Although she usually looks human, Aelia's nature as a Dragonian means she has a few physical advantages in combat. Heavily compacted muscles allow for swift and powerful movement, like a reptile, and her skin has an almost leathery toughness to it despite its normal appearance. Her dragon's blood, in addition to being superheated, grants her a limited resistance against indirect magic such as mind-reading, possession or manipulation. Not as much as a full norse dragon's, of course, but more defense than most humans could muster.
This aside, Aelia is primarily a spearswoman, fighting with the glaive shown in the official artwork above. The relatively small head means she can bring the weapon around quickly, and even hurl it at enemies like a spear, but in generally it's more a slashing weapon than a stabbing one. In a melee fight she'll try using her weapon's reach to keep an enemy at a distance, but can easily fight unarmed using her enhanced strength should anyone get past her guard.
During her adventuring, Aelia also discovered a treasure known as the Dragon Gem, which - coupled with her own nature - allows her to fully take on the form of a norse dragon. Massive, red-scaled and fire-breathing, the transformation doesn't last long and it takes a severe adrennaline rush to bring it out, but its appearance can seriously tip the scales in any conflict. When in dragon form Aelia will be more impulsive, reactive and will act more instinctively to any possible threats - more bestial, in fact. What she doesn't realise is that her transformations are a form of necromancy, and each change causes her to lose a little more of her humanity as her draconic side emerges.
---
Within the tournament, Aelia's main motivations will be to explore the new worlds and to encounter / fight other female warriors. She's unlikely to attack your character without provocation, but part of her reason for being there is to enjoy a good battle against others like herself, a rare thing on her world. That and she'll take any chance to fight the male warriors under the Idol's control, and prove the female of the species the more deadly in at least her case.
On the other hand, her hatred of most men will lead her, in some way, to appreciate the Idol's enslavement of them. The Idol's a strong, powerful woman, almost someone to admire, and it's only fair after the centuries of male dominance over womankind, right? And given Ragnarok has already begun in Midgard, that the end of her world is guaranteed and only a few years away, there's that selfish but tempting thought that the destruction of the multiverse at the Idol's hands might not be such a bad thing...

Erk, almost forgot that TOTI was starting. Fortunately May Lee isn't too hard to "get," and in any event I probably won't have time to write that much with her anyway.
In short, Lee Jinju (using the reversed naming convention because 1) it flows better and 2) everybody else in the Kim dojo does too) is a relatively normal Korean girl-- she goes to school, listens to music, does Tae Kwon Do, and eats a lot of fried chicken-- with one exception. Her biggest goal in life is to be a superhero.
Well, a famous one, anyway, because in her mind she already is one. When Lee puts on her gloves and scarf (trademarked by Kamen Rider), she becomes the dynamic superheroine May Lee!
...yeah, it's hard to be a superhero when the criminals you want to flee in panic instead stop to give you a hug or pat you on the head. But it's the thought that counts, eh?
While Jinju is mild-mannered and perky, "May Lee" represents her energy and enthusiasm channeled into the fight against evil and injustice. This is evident both in social situations and in combat (normally Lee's fighting style is defensive, using her long legs and exceptional Tae Kwon Do skills to deliver punishing combination attacks against enemies, while dodging, blocking, and countering attacks; but May Lee is pure offense, batting aside strikes with her bare hands and attacking with crushing chops, punches, and kicks).
May Lee uses a rather unique "self-arranged" style of Tae Kwon Do, so while there are some similarities to the real art (though pretty much only in her "normal" mode) they're not quite the same. She also has a strong command of ki; her "Hero" powers include being able to take painful hits (though being hit while lit on the fire of justice can ruin her resolve-- the bigger the emotional high, the harder the crash is), conduct lightning through her charge-up attacks, jump high and glide for long distances, and attack with powerful super moves, most of which involve posing dramatically while she ignites the enemy in explosions of ki power.
Uh... I think that's it. Basically, Lee Jinju is a pretty normal, energetic girl who likes fighting for justice and watching action hero movies. May Lee is a sentai character who likes fighting for justice and being an action hero. (Note that Lee doesn't really make any attempt to hide her "secret identity" or anything like that. However, she does fangirl over people who do, and meeting a real-life superhero will probably be the highlight of the tournament for her.)
As far as backstory and pictures and stuff, here's some links: her FightGen gallery entry and her Wikipedia article.
---
May's Assist, Angel, is a hot leather-clad assassin who is unhappy about being retconned out of the King of Fighters continuity. She uses a wild, aggressive fighting style that basically chains attacks together, while mimicking The Rock (from the WWE). She's from Mexico and loves soccer, wrestling, boating... and tequila drinks. You can see how those might be a bad combination.
She doesn't.
Angel's basically just along for the ride, and having fun in her own ditzy-yet-evil way until she can figure out what to do with her life now that she's not getting an awesome paycheck from NESTS for sitting around looking pretty.
---
And that's that. Sorry, not feeling up to writing much more. With any luck some in-character posts should help give an idea of how May and Angel act and all that.
