Nothing. I don't know if this means anything, but the driver information doesn't change when I update it to the one I downloaded off the Linksys page. However, the information on the page regarding the driver is different than what Windows says after I update.

I looked at the network information on my computer and my girlfriend's. She's using the same adapter as me, though her OS is Vista. Her IPv6 connectivity is local while I don't have any IPv6 connectivity. I don't know if that means anything. At this point, I'm just fishing and hoping some kind of solution will bite.

I just toggled the Compatibility View on IE and installed a batch of Windows 7 updates. Things are running somewhat faster. There is still a noticable difference between my connection on Vista and my connection on 7. I don't know if it will continue to improve or what.

When I first tried downloading things off the internet, for example, it literally downloaded at a rate of 1.XX KB/s. Now I'm at 75.00-120.00 KB/s. I'm assuming the updates helped. Now I'm trying to download as many of my old programs as possible before it screws up again.

I just haven't been having a good run with wireless internet, lol.

EDIT: Now the download speed has slowly decreased to 40.00 KB/s, and is continuing to decrease.

EDIT 2: Download failed. Internet connection has appeared to slow to a complete stop. How weird. I was downloading AVG, by the way.

You shouldn't be using IPv6 anyways. It may connect with IPv6, but your network will still be across an IPv4 connection.

My best guess? Dud network card. It happened to me, and I just ran a network cable. This is probably the next thing you need to do, see if it's just the card or if there's some deeper problem that needs debugged.

This is probably a silly question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway, because it's still a riddle to me, and I'm really not tech savvy. Does anybody know if there's any way to freely arrange files under Windows 7 (as in, not in any predetermined order)? I've just upgraded my laptop recently, and I've not been able to rearrange my photos and images as they were before. They're stuck in alphabetical order, and it won't let me move them around inside the folder at all. Is there something blatant I'm overlooking, or is this an oversight in Windows 7?

Nah, that's not what I'm trying to do. Sort By gives you a choice of predetermined orders by which to sort your stuff (usually alphabetical). I want to be able to move the files freely inside the folder. Think "click on them and drag them where I need them to be": if a file name starts with "c", another one with "a" and another one with "t", I want to be able to move t before a, for example, not just have a, c, t or t, c, a. And I can't seem to be able to do that.

You want every folder to behave similar to the desktop. Simple concept. Execution-wise, though, I'm not sure how to pull it off. Was this even possible in XP?

EDIT: The feature you're looking for is "Sort by NONE", and apparently it's disabled in Win7 with no known way to re-enable it.

Bah, figures X_X That sucks. It was definitely possible to do this, both under Vista and XP. Why they would get rid of this feature is beyond me.

As for why I want to sort my files that way, it's for the simple reason that I like to sort my pics thematically. Call it a personal quirk, I guess I never gave it much thought before, since it was so easy to do in previous versions of Windows. Perfect case of "you don't know what you've got till it's gone." Oh well, at least it's the only peeve I have with Windows 7 so far.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to sort things by dragging and dropping?

If you ever upgrade your computer, or move your files anywhere else the order will be lost.

(I'd suggest putting numbers in the front of each folder or filename, then sorting by the numbers.)

So, I left my computer alone for a few days because it the internet connection started slowing up again. Today I turn it back on and the internet is faster than it was with Vista and the download speeds are up to par. The only problem I'm running into now is that when I'm downloading things, the internet slows down significantly - which isn't that big of a problem at all.
